Trivia

The scenes filmed in Australia were filmed at Bond University, in the Gold Coast, which is known to have perfect weather 350 days a year. Unfortunately, Linda Cardellini got a cold, and filming had to be stopped for a day.

The majority of the cast and crew have disowned the film and hate it. Freddie Prinze Jr. had low opinions on the wardrobe of Fred, specifically the ascot, and Sarah Michelle Gellar was once asked in an interview which of her films she would forbid her children from watching, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” or “Cruel Intentions”. Gellar chose this film. Linda Cardellini was also dissatisfied with the final cut, finding it too raunchy for a children’s film. Matthew Lillard initially hated the film but eventually warmed up to it, as his performance as Shaggy was consistently praised even amongst the critics who hated the film. He later became the official voice of Shaggy in most animated Scooby-Doo productions after Casey Kasem retired from the character in 2009.

Linda Cardellini and Isla Fisher were fans of the cartoon before they were cast in the film.
